Students Loan Trust Fund holds student leaders summit

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) in collaboration with the National Union of Ghana Students has held a Students Leaders Summit at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra.

The summit which brought together over 200 student leaders from across the country is the first in a series of stakeholder engagements to be held by the SLTF.

Addressing participants, the CEO of the Trust Fund, Nana Kwakue Agyei Yeboah said that the summit was borne out of the realization that student leaders need to have a more intimate knowledge of how the Fund works, in order for them to be able to educate their constituents.

“You need a good knowledge of the criteria for accessing the loan, the application procedure, the importance of repayment and the various platforms available for those who are due to start paying back their loans”. He said.

The NUGS President, Mr. Tinkaro Asare Osei thanked the SLTF for the role they play in the tertiary education sector. He urged the managers of the Fund to disburse loans in a timely manner during the academic year, to enable students meet their financial obligations.

The Head of Public Relations for the Fund, Mr. George Ferguson Laing, said that the summit was necessary to brief student leaders on the present state of affairs at the Fund, inform them of new policies in the offing and receive feedback from students on how the Fund can improve its services to them.
