Management of the University of Ghana has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that it provides a safe environment for its students and employees.

The safety of students on the campus of the University has become a subject of national conversation following a suspected robbery attack on one of its students.

Daniel Osei, a final year student of the University suffered machete wounds on his head on Sunday night after an encounter with men suspected to be armed robbers on campus.

The incident happened around the Pentagon/Evandy stretch of the University.

Even before this incident, some students had earlier expressed concerns over the state of security at that area of the University community as there appear to be little security visibility to ward off criminal activities.

Although some have accused the University Management of being nonchalant in forestalling similar occurrences in the future, it has stressed on its unwavering commitment “to ensure a safe and secured environment for the community to go about their duties and activities.”
